KATE'S TUMBLOG

Return to start

Katja Hello! My name is Kate, just a regular person from Europe in her twenties. This is my private blog, containing things I find interesting - in format which suits tumblr, but wouldn't be particularly fitting for facebook, twitter, linkedin etc. Could say I used to be an avid gamer and this passion is still somewhere inside me, getting loose whenever irl allows it. This blog reflects this a bit, even though much has changed, truly spare time is almost non-existant, therefore my choice of titles and level of patience is different.

I do try out many games and getting what's best from them; when it comes to time consuming MMOS playing very casually only Guild Wars 2.

Fractals Lore - demanding more

Tuesday 08 Jan 2013

WoodenPotatoes:

While you’re around exploring the area you hear Dessa actually speak to you. Game really shines when they actually give you dialogue like that voice-overs as you are running through rather than stopping and doing cutscenes.

Offering scraps of lore in form of Dessa’s alerts is a really nice addition to Fractals and I’m hoping Arenanet will develop this more. In fact, what I’ve been missing is: game being more transparent when it comes to lore behind given dungeon or world in general.

After GW2 hiatus…

Saturday 05 Jan 2013

Finding party for lvl 1 Fractals of the Mists after long break from game was a bit frustrating, until I found out about http://gw2lfg.com/ which is very useful “dungeon finder”. Got to lvl 2 after half day of trying to find group in just Lion Arch and several parties with rage-quit people.

Fractals seem polished, but I hope there are some with deeper stories inside than what I experienced so far. Only 1 thing bothering me that it feels like good old mmo times: clearing fractal lvl takes a bit too much time in my opinion and makes you tied to PC. And as a hardcore casual which I am now - I think I cannot count on fixed group but meeting random PUGs : )

I don’t usually post stuff for non GW2 games, but this is a big announcement for another of my favorite games — The Secret World. They are following (somewhat) in the footsteps of Guild Wars 2, and going Buy to Play. At $30 for access to all the content of the whole MMO, it’s a steal!
So if you’ve been curious or you just want a change of pace (modern day, horror-theme MMO), here’s something to ask for for Christmas!

As of right now subscription is optional for The Secret World.
This means that after buying the game you can play all of the heralded story-line and all content available right now without a paying a monthly fee.
With four major updates released, which introduce much new content such as a Raid in New York, Auxiliary Weapons and many new missions, the game is better than ever.
Buy the game before December the 31st and all the content in Issue #5, which will be released shortly, will also be included and you will receive the Initiate Pack, which includes strong starter weapons, a Blood Raven pet and extra social clothing.
So click here to BUY The Secret World for just $30 / €30 / £24.99.

WvW rankings

Mike O’Brien dishes out on current WvW rankings & more. (…)you can check out his original post here

Arenanet also provided a text file with all results from matches that started on 9-1 to 9-10 , which is very valuable and shows who won against who exactly.

While I am writing this, there are already some quick calculations made by players.

By the way, would be awesome if they provided info on servers total playerbase, including location of players (to help in choosing server which is for example active in most of timezones).  But this is probably too much to ask, and with current free server transfers - such data would get outdated soon.

In my opinion what they should do is wait maybe a week more and start implementing fees for server transfer: but very slowly, not starting from 1800 gems but way less, like 10? This would help to slowly stabilize populations, preventing server hopping several times a day depending who has better WvWvW score at this very moment.

edit: information about queqes for NA servers

Tuesday 11 September 2012

I must say that after going through all norn zones I honestly had enough of all that ice corruption behind every corner…but I really liked the fact that in one of Dynamic Events it was clearly stated how one becomes “corrupted”.

I was a bit afraid there will be tendency to not explain anything at all ingame, regardless of how obvious something might look like. I always prefer to have at least some elements of the puzzle confirmed and not having to speculate about everything.

I’m quite pleased in fact and my desire to get more into GW2 lore finally appeared.
